U.S. black metal project Ozark Shaman has released its new album, A Traitor Is Worse Than An Enemy, which arrived on February 28, 2026. This album simply jams!
Based in Ozark, Missouri, Ozark Shaman is the work of Brad Nailling, who handles all instruments and production. The album also features Madeleine Nailling on viola, adding an eerie and atmospheric dimension to the project’s already distinctive sound.
Musically, A Traitor Is Worse Than An Enemy blends raw black metal aggression with electronic synth textures and atmospheric folk elements. The project explores themes of spirituality, cosmicism, war, history, and human struggle, while the banjo serves as a defining piece of the band’s folk identity through Scruggs-style picking.
The result is a release that pushes beyond standard black metal terrain while still keeping its bite intact.
A Traitor Is Worse Than An Enemy is out now.
