Montreal extreme metal bruisers Deadwood have released their new EP Rituals of a Dying Light through Innerstrength Records.

The five-track release delivers a vicious blend of death metal, hardcore, and modern deathcore, driven by punishing riffs, technical precision, and unrelenting aggression. The band describes their approach as “Make Deathcore Angry Again,” and the EP fully commits to that mission.

Formed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Deadwood is made up of seasoned veterans from the Canadian metal scene. Rituals of a Dying Light was recorded in January 2025 at EMNT Studio, produced by Fred Element, and mixed and mastered by Element as well. Lyrically and atmospherically, the EP draws inspiration from dark historical subject matter, including the Salem witch trials and the reign of Jack the Ripper, creating a bleak and confrontational listening experience.

Following strong critical responses and a growing international presence that includes touring Japan, U.S. dates in 2025, and appearances alongside Born of Osiris, Deadwood continue to build momentum. The band is currently touring Eastern Canada and is preparing for their first European run in 2026.
