Scottish black/folk metal band Cnoc An Tursa will release its long-awaited new album, A Cry For The Slain, on April 24, 2026 through Apocalyptic Witchcraft.
Arriving eight years after the band’s last album, The Forty Five, A Cry For The Slain marks a powerful return rooted in the history, folklore, and mysticism of Scotland. Known for blending fierce black metal with traditional melodic elements, Cnoc An Tursa channel mourning, defiance, fear, pride, and passion into a record that feels both ancient and alive.
The band said of the album:
“With this new album we feel like we are going back to our roots with a more guitar driven style and bringing back some of the folk elements musically and lyrically which was the original inspiration for the band.”
That return to first principles gives A Cry For The Slain a sense of purpose and fire. Songs like “The Caoineag” draw from bardic storytelling and Highland folklore, while “Cailleach And The Guardians Of The Seven Stones” and “Am Fear Liath Mòr” deepen the album’s connection to myth, landscape, and supernatural dread. First single “Alba In My Heart” stands as a stirring declaration of devotion to Scotland, carrying both emotional weight and a raised-fist spirit.
The album was mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano and features cover artwork by Olga Kann, both helping shape a release that feels as rich in atmosphere as it is in power. With A Cry For The Slain, Cnoc An Tursa do more than return. They come back swinging with one of the strongest statements of their career.
